What it is like
A small tree. It grows 8-10 m high. The trunk is 4-10 cm across. The leaves are 7-28 cm long by 3-12 cm wide. They are hairy on both surfaces. The leaf stalks are 1-10 cm long. The flowers are on the trunks. The male flowering shoots are 3-11 cm long and the female ones 1-5 cm long. The fruit are round and 1 cm across.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows as an under-storey shrub in the rain-forest.
