There can be teeth along the edge. The flowering racemes are 8-15 cm long. They are in the axils of leaves. The flowers are small and white. The fruit is 0.2-0.3 cm across.

There are about 200 Maesa species. They are mostly tropical. They are also put in the family Maesaceae. They are also put in the family Myrsinaceae.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in NE Queensland in Australia. It grows in lowland rainforest. It grows from sea level to 450 m altitude. It needs well drained soil and a sunny location.
