What it is like

A spiny shrub which loses its leaves. The leaves are 3-15 mm long. The flowers are bluish-violet. They can be pink or white. They are 13-18 mm long. The stamens do not protrude. The fruit are orange-red or black when ripe.

There are about 100 Lycium species.


Where it is found

It is a Mediterranean climate plant. It grows along sandy shores and on dunes.
