What it is like

A herb that keeps growing from year to year. It grows 50 cm high. The flowers occur singly and are lilac coloured. The fruit are oval berries 3-5 cm long. They hang on stalks 10-25 cm long. The berries are green when ripe.

Lycianthes mociniana (Dunal) Bitter is also an accepted name

It is a subtropical plant. It grows on the highland Plateau in Mexico. It is usually above 2,000 m altitude.
