What it is like

A sprawling shrub. It grows 3 m high. The leaves are sword shaped and 6-12 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. The flowers are greenish-pink. Male and female flowers are on separate trees. The fruit are red and a flattened round shape. They are 1 cm across on stalks 1 cm long.

Also put in the family Myrsinaceae.


Where it is found

It is native to southern China. It grows along the edges of forests between 1,200-1,300 m altitude.
