What it is like

An evergreen shrub. It grows 2 m high. It has stout short thorns on the branches. The current year's growth has scales. The leaves are narrowly oval and 5-11 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. The edges are curve back when dry. The flowers are in clusters in the axils of leaves. They are funnel shaped and there are 4 lobes at the end. They are 10 mm long by 3 mm wide. The fruit are oblong and 9-10 mm long. They are red and hang down.

It is a subtropical plant. It grows in central China. It grows between 600-2,400 m above sea level. In Sichuan.
