What it is like

A tree. It grows 15-25 m tall. The leaves are sword shaped. They are 10-25 cm long by 6-10 cm wide. Plants are separately male and female. Flowers have 4 to 5 flower parts. The fruit is a flattened round shape. They are 7-8 cm across. The fruit are yellow. The flesh is a slimy mealy texture. There are 4-10 seeds.

There are about 485 species of Diospyros mostly in the tropics.
