What it is like
A large cane or rattan which does not climb much. It has a long stalk up to 100-200 m long. It is 2.5 cm across.
There are 375-400 Calamus species. There are 175 species in tropical Asia.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in humid and flooded forest. In Thailand it grows between 100-400 m altitude. It grows in lowland evergreen forest.
