What it is like
A shrub or tree. It loses its leaves during the year. The bark is dark brown and it has splits along it. The leaves are alternate. They are narrowly oval and 9-12 cm long by 6-8 cm wide. The fruit is round and 7 mm across. They are red at maturity.
Where it is found
It grows in forests and on mountain slopes below 1,000 m above sea level. It grows in Yunnan in China.
