What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It grows 2-10 m tall and the trunk is 20 cm across. It loses its leaves during the year. The bark is grey-white. The leaves are alternate and oval and 6-7 cm long by 3-4 cm wide. There are 2 to 6 flowers in a group. The male and female flowers are separate and green to yellow. The fruit are oval and 8 mm by 7 mm.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in forests between 2,800-3,700 m above sea level. It grows in Yunnan in China.
