What it is like

A tree. It grows 8-10 m high. The branches are spreading and arch over. The leaves are narrowly oval and 5-7 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. There are fine teeth long the edge. There is a white covering underneath. The leaf stalks are about 1 cm long. The flowers are white. They are in groups at the ends of branches. These are 8-10 cm across. The fruit is narrowly oval and 1.3 cm long. It is red.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It is native to central, western and southern China. It grows in secondary forests on the sunny side of hills between 1,240-1,850 m altitude. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
