What it is like

A cactus. The plants form clumps of 4-10 stems. The spines obscure the stems. The stems are cylinder shaped and green. They are 2.5-5 cm long and 6-7.5 cm wide. There are 12-14 ribs. There are 1-4 central spines and 9-11 around them. The flowers can be at the tips of the stems or along the side. They are funnel shaped and red. They are 5-6 cm long and 5-6 cm wide. The fruit are round and green. They become red, fleshy and edible.
