What it is like
A herb. The rhizome or underground stem has swellings at the nodes. The stems are 50-200 cm long. The leaves on the rhizome can be simple or have 3 to 5 leaflets. The leaves on the stem have 1-3 leaflets. The flower petals are purple to pale pink. The fruit are narrow and 2.5-5.6 cm long by 2-2.3 mm wide. The seeds are dark brown.
