What it is like

A herb. The rhizome is long and slender. It is 2 mm thick. The stem can be branched towards the end. It is 20-45 cm long and flexible and hairy. The leaves are oval to sword shaped and 4-11 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. The base is heart shaped and there are fine teeth along the edge. There are 3 or 4 flowers in a flat topped arrangement. They are white spotted wit purple. The fruit is a 2 or 3 seeded berry.

Also put in the family Convallariaceae.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows in forests in north China.
