What it is like
A shrub or tree up to 10 m tall. There are 1-2 fruiting stalks. These are slender. The fruit is smaller than a sugar apple. It is oval and 3 cm long by 2.5 cm wide. They are green to yellow. They have a flattened base and rounded tip. The skin is rough and has many prickles. The pulp is edible. The seeds are 6-7 mm long.
There are about 100-150 Annona species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows naturally in the South American rainforest. In Colombia it grows between 150-1,500 m above sea level.
