What it is like

They turn purple as they dry. They are 6-8 mm across and occur singly or as 2-3 together. The florets have rays and there are few flower bracts. They are narrow and equal to the florets. The achenes are narrow, hooked and curved inwards. They are 12-16 mm long.


Where it is found

It is a Mediterranean climate plant. It grows on the edges of fields and on stony ground. It can grow in sandy places and semi deserts as well as along streams. It can grow in arid places.
