What it is like

A small tree. It grows 8-20 m tall. It can have flowers of one or both sexes. The young branches are slender and reddish purple. The leaves are narrowly sword shaped and 3-7 cm long by 1-2 cm wide.

There are 20 Trema species. They grow in the tropics. Also put in the family Ulmaceae.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in secondary forests at moderate altitudes between 400-700 m altitude. in southern China it grows between 100-1,600 m above sea level.
