What it is like
A large evergreen tree. It grows 40 m tall. It can have small buttresses. The leaves are broadly oval and wedge shaped at the base. The veins are hairy above. The male flowering heads are rounded. The fruit can have 1 or more lobes. The fruit are 4 cm across and have small hairs.
There are about 50 Artocarpus species. They are in the tropics and subtropics of Asia and the Pacific.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in forests up to 600 m above sea level.
