What it is like
An orchid. It grows to about 1 m high. It has a robust rootstock. The tubers are oval and 1-2 cm across. The leaves are 7.5-12.5 cm long and 2.5-5 cm wide. They are oval. They taper to the tip. The base sheaths the stem. The flowers are greenish.
There are about 200 Platanthera species.
Where it is found
A subtropical plant. In Nepal it grows between 2000-4600 m altitude. In Tibet it grows in forests and scrub and on grasslands along valleys between 2,300-3,400 m above sea level.
