What it is like
An evergreen climber. It grows 3-5 m tall and spreads 8 m wide. It twines and tangles through trees. The leaves are dark green and have 5-7 leaflets. The buds are pink. The flowers occur in large numbers. They hang down and have a scent. The outsides are red and the insides white. The fruit is a black berry. It is 7-11 mm across.
There are between 200 and 500 Jasminum species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in valleys and thickets in southern China between 1,400-3,000 m above sea level. It suits hardiness zones 7-9. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
