What it is like

A waterlily. The leaves are heart shaped and wavy along the edges. They are both floating and under water. The floating leaves are reddish brown at first. They become green. The underwater leaves are reddish purple. The leaves are 9 cm long by 6 cm wide. The flower petals are deep yellow. The flowers are 2.5-5 cm across. They are cup like. There are 16-18 petals.

There are about 14 Nuphar species. They grow in temperate regions.
