What it is like
A solitary palm. It grows 3 m tall. The trunk can be 2-5 cm across. It has stilt roots. The leaves have leaflets along the stalk. The leaf sheaths are 45 cm long. The leaf stalk is 1.25 m long. There are 7 leaflets on each side. The flowering shoots comes from among the leaves. It is 25-30 cm long. The fruit are narrowly oval and red.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in lowland wet forests. It grows up to 800 m above sea level.
