What it is like

A small shrub. It grows 30-40 cm high and spreads 30-40 cm wide. It loses its leaves during the year. The leaves are 4 cm long. The flowers are in spikes which point upwards. They are fluffy and white. They are 6 cm long.

There are 16 Itea species. These are sometimes included in the Escalloniaceae or put in the Saxifragaceae.


Where it is found

It grows best in a moist, sunny location. It suits hardiness zones 6-9.
