What it is like
A herb. The rhizomes or underground stems are dark brown and woody and knobbly. The leaves are greyish green, They are narrow and twisted and 20-60 cm long by 1.5-2 mm wide. The flowering stems are below the ground. They have 2 or 3 flowers. The fruit capsule is oval and 3-5 cm long by 1.2-1.8 cm wide.
