What it is like
A tree. It grows up to 25 m tall. The trunk can be 25 cm across. The leaves are simple and 4-10 cm long. They do not have hairs but have several large oil dots. The fruit is 2.5-4 cm long by 2-3 cm wide. They occur either singly or in bunches and normally at the ends of branches. There is one seed inside. The seed is 1.5-2 cm long by 1-1.8 cm wide. The flesh of the fruit is edible.
An unresolved name in The Plant List. Syzygium velae is an accepted name.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows in lowland rainforest in north east Queensland in Australia. It is also in drier more seasonal rainforest. It grows from sea level to 60 m altitude.
