What it is like
A pumpkin family plant. The stems are robust and branched. The leaves are 9-17 cm long and have 3-5 lobes. There are teeth along the edge. Male flowers are in a group 13-17 cm long and female flowers occur singly. The fruit are oval and red. They are 9 cm across. The seeds are oval and brown.

It is a temperate plant. It grows in evergreen broad-leaved forests and in valleys and on mountains slopes between 700-1,200 m above sea level. In Yunnan.
