What it is like

A tree. It grows 5-30 m tall. The trunk can be 50 cm across. The bark is grey, rough and cracked. The leaves are spaced along the branches. The leaves are simple and 17-40 cm long by 5-14 cm wide. The flower are in the axils of the leaves. Male and female flowers are on separate plants. The fruit are on branched stalks. They fruit are 2-3 cm long. They are yellow or orange. There is one seed 1 cm long.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in primary and secondary forest. It can be on alluvial soils or limestone. It grows from sea level to 1,200 m altitude.
