What it is like
A taro family herb. It has short stems or leaves without stalks. The leaves vary in form. They can be oblong, triangular, heart shaped or spear like. The bract covering the spike of flowers can be constricted. The end portion is male and the shorter lower portion is female. The fruit are berries. There are many seeds.
There are 150 Homalomena species.
