What it is like

A herb. It keeps growing from year to year and has rhizomes. It grows 60-100 cm tall. It has branches in the upper half. The leaves are 15-40 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. The leaves get smaller up the stem.

Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows in damp places near small streams between 700-2,200 m above sea level in north China.
