What it is like

Young leaves have spiny teeth. The flowers can occur singly or in small clusters. The fruit is a capsule with 2 lobes. The seeds are black. They have a red aril or fleshy layer aorund them.

It is a tropical and subtropical plant. It grows in dry rainforest and in vine thickets.
