What it is like
A herb. It has round tubers or corms 1.5-2 cm across. The leaves have long stalks and are deeply 3 lobed. There are 1 or 2 leaves. The bract around the flower is purplish.
There are about 50 Typhonium species.
Where it is found
In Nepal plants grow between 2400-4300 m altitude. They grow in shady, wet places.

How it is used for food
Young leaves are cooked as a vegetable. The tuberous roots or corms are boiled and eaten as a vegetable. Caution: The plant needs appropriate processing.
