What it is like
A tree. It grows 8-10 m tall. The young branches have a rusty covering. The leaves are alternate and crowded near the tips. The leaves are broadly oval and 32-50 cm long by 9-16 cm wide. The fruit are brown and round. They are 3-4 cm across.
There are about 90 Helicia species mostly in SE Asia with some in N Australia.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows between 700-1620 m altitude in Yunnan in China.
