What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It grows 6-10 m tall. The trunk can be 20 cm across. The young branches are hairy. The leaves are alternate and oblong and 3-5 cm long. They taper to the tip. There are 3-7 flowers in a group. The flowers are greenish yellow. The fruit is a fleshy round berry 1 cm across. It is black at maturity. There are 8-10 seeds.
These were also put in the family Tiliaceae.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows between 950-2,200 m above sea level.
