What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It grows 3-10 m tall. The trunk is 30 cm across. The leaves are narrowly oval and 8-26 cm long by 3.5-10.5 cm wide. The flowering shoots can be 18 cm long near the ends of branches. The flower are cream or green. The fruit is a berry that is shiny and dark red to black. It is 6-7 mm across. There are 1 or 2 seeds.
