What it is like

A woody creeper. It loses its leaves during the year. It grows 8 m high. The new growth has a white network like covering. The leaves are oval and 10-15 cm long by 6-8 cm wide. They have 3 or 5 lobes. The tip is pointed and the base is heart shaped. There are teeth along the edge. There is a velvety covering underneath the leaf. The flowers are greenish-yellow. They are in groups 8-11 cm long. The fruit are berries 6-8 mm across. They are purple-black.
