What it is like
A large creeper. It has fleshy root tubers. The leaves are broadly oval and 8-15 cm long by 5-11 cm wide. The flowers are white or pink. They are on stalks 6 cm long in the axils of leaves. The fruit are oval capsules. These are 1 cm long.
There are about 500 Ipomoea species. Not in The Plant List as Ipomoea racemosa Roth but JSTOR has this as a probably synonym of Ipomoea staphylina Roem. & Schult.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows on open hillsides in southern China.
