What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It grows 2-10 m tall. It can have spines 6 cm long. The branches are flattened and angular. They are reddish-purple when young. The leaves are oblong or oval and 3-9 cm long by 2-5 cm wide. The edges have shallow teeth. The flowers have 5 white or cream petals. The fruit capsules are green and turn red when ripe. They are 5-6 mm long and have 3 parts.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in seasonally dry areas.
