What it is like
A shrub. It has stout grey branches. It grows 5 m tall. It loses its leaves during the year. The leaves have stalks. The leaves are 6-10 cm long by 3-4 cm wide. They are oblong and taper to the tip. There are teeth along the edge. They are hairy on the veins underneath. The flowers are white. The fruit is fleshy with a hard covering over the seed. Fruit are oval.
Also put in the family Caprifoliaceae.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. In Nepal plants grow between 2600-3500 m altitude. They grow on open slopes. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
