What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It grows 2-12 m high. The young branches can have hairs. The leaves are simple and opposite. The leaf blades are 4-10 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. The flowers are in groups of 5-15 flowers in the axils of leaves. The fruit are 6-8 mm across.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. In Central America it grows between 50 and 1,000 m altitude.
