What it is like
A tree. It grows 30 m high. The trunk is 50 cm across. The leaves are dark green above and more pale underneath. They are 6-15 cm long by 3-7 cm wide. They are narrowly oval. The flowering stalks are at the joints where leaves have fallen. There can be 1-4 flowering stalks and up to 25 flowers on each. The flower petals are white, yellow or red. The fruit are narrowly oval and yellow. They are 4 cm long by 3 cm wide. There are 4 or 5 seeds. The fruit are edible.
They have also been put in the family Memecylaceae.
