What it is like

A dark purple and yellow parasite that grows on the roots of Salal (Gaultheria shallon). It grows 8-12 cm tall. It is 3 cm thick. It can grow alone or in clusters. It has a round base like a corm. The small purple flowers are crowded between the upper scales. The seed capsules are fleshy. They are 1-1.5 cm long and round at the end.
