What it is like

A tree. It grows to about 6 m high. It has dark brown bark. The leaves have stalks. The leaves are 7-17 cm long by 2-7 cm wide. They have teeth along the edge. They have 3 veins and taper to both ends. The flowers are white. They are in the axils of leaves.

There are about 200 Grewia species. They are mostly tropical. The fruit of most may be edible. These were in the Sparrmanniaceae and the Tiliaceae.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. In Nepal it grows between 300-1100 m altitude. It grows in shady places.
