What it is like
A herb. It grows each year from seeds or can last for a few years. It is often sprawling or spreading along the ground. It can be 1 m across. The stems are green and hairy. The leaves are alternate and oval or sword shaped. They are 3-7 cm long by 1.4 cm wide. The leaf stalk is 1-4 cm long. The leaves have shallow lobes. The flowers are star shaped and 8-12 mm across. They are in clusters of 2 to 5. The flowers are white. The fruit is a round green berry. It is 8-10 mm across.
There are about 1400 Solanum species. It is an endangered plant in Tasmania. This means it cannot be collected or damaged It occurs in other states.
