What it is like
A herb. It grows 1 m tall. It has rhizomes and is spreading. The leaves are oval to sword shaped. They are alternate but in a ring at the base. The flowers are bell shaped and 5 cm across. They are blue to purple and nodding. They are in groups at the top of the plant. The fruit is a capsule 1 cm long. There are several seeds.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in light woodlands up to 600 m above sea level.
