What it is like
A plant with succulent stem like a cactus. It grows 25 cm tall. It can form clumps 1 m across. The branches are 4 sided in cross section. The flowers are star shaped and lie face up on the ground. They are 15 cm across and have purple lines against a yellow background. It is hairy.
Also put in the family Apocynaceae. The spelling of the scientific name varies as gettleffei or gettlefii.

It is a subtropical plant.
