What it is like

A climbing shrub. It is 6 cm across. It can grow 30 m long. The bark is greyish. The fruit is pale yellow and 25-40 mm long by 15-25 mm wide. The seed is edible.

There are 33 Gmelina species. They are mostly tropical. Also put in the family Verbenaceae.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in forest from sea level to 1,300 m above sea level.
