What it is like
A herb. It has strong roots and rhizomes. The stems are 50-150 cm tall. They are woody at the base. The leaves are 4-20 cm long and have 3-7 leaflets. The leaflets are oval and 2-6 cm long by 1-3 cm wide.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. In north and west China is grows on dry rivers banks and wasteland. It grows at about 1,100 m above sea level.
