What it is like
A deciduous shrub. It grows about 2 m high. The leaves are opposite and 7-19 cm long by 3.5-16 cm wide. They are broadly oval with slight teeth and hairy. The flowers are stalked and white, tinged with red. The fruit is fleshy with a stone. It is round and bluish-black. It is enclosed in a leathery calyx.
There are about 400 Clerodendrum species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. In Nepal plants grow up to about 1500 m altitude.
