What it is like
An evergreen tree. It grows 30 m high. It has yellow latex. The trunks are 80 cm across. The young branches are purple-red. The leaves are opposite and oblong. They are 8-15 cm long by 3-7 cm wide. They are leathery. The flowers are of one sex. They are small and in groups in the axils of leaves or at the ends of branches. The fruit are oblong and 3-4 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. They are yellow tinged with red.
Where it is found
It is native in the mountains in southern China on limestone between 300-800 m above sea level. In Yunnan.
