What it is like
An orchid. It grows to about 20 cm high. The pseudobulbs are small. The leaves do not have a stalk. The leaves are 2-4 cm long by 0.8-1.8 cm wide. They are oblong to sword shaped. The base narrows and is clasps the stem. The flowers are pale purple.
There are about 35 Brachycorythis species.
Where it is found
In Nepal it grows between 900-2000 m altitude.

How it is used for food
The Pseudobulbs are boiled and eaten. The tender leaves and shoots are cooked as a vegetable.
